Rundown on NH Balers

Been viewing the archives about NH balers. Came across a post "complete rundown on New holland Balers" Post by James on Oct.13, 2002. He list many model #'s with years produced. Now was the 268, 269 and 272 made the same year? He shows them as. I know the 268 has two U-joint pto connection where the 269 has three. What was different about the 272?

I will confirm what Scott said is correct. The 268 came out in 1963 all by itself. In 1964, it was given a few updates and the 269 and 272 were added. For the most part, we say the 3 baler models were made from 1964 thru 1968. Steve

Steve, you are the one everyone trusts here about NH square balers. You are the one who has the facts, and even more importantly, you have the experience and/or opinion of each model to tell us if it's a good one or what to look out for.

I know we would be asking for a lot of typing on your part, but it sure would be great to see you run through the list of balers from past to present giving the dates, capacity, good points, bad points, and overall opinion. Maybe then we could get YTs to post it in an easy to read format in an easy to find location where people with questions could be referred.

I ended up finding a 273, but when I was looking for a baler and didn't know much about them, I had to come here and research every number that I ran across. Based on the info. that you have given in the past, if I ever run across a nice 316 at the right price, I will sure buy it.

I think it should stay in the forum archives for at least 3 years so people could search for it. You could put in a "key" word for people to search for. That way if someone asked a standard question on the forum, we could just tell them to search for that "key" word.

OK, maybe that is a dumb idea. I have sent an e-mail to Kim to see if he has any suggestions. I would personnally like to see it in a chart type format and maybe duplicated for other types of implements. Then it would deserve a heading in the menu on the left of the screen.

I'm the guilty one who started that list and never completed it. I would still like to see something more complete, all in one place here on YT's for everyone to use. I did get a more thorough list from a Ford and NH history book, but I'm not sure it is completely accurate and I'm not sure how to get it onto this site and into a good usable format.
