Anyone familiar with the JD F-B-B 10-foot fertilizer-grain drill (w/ hoe-type opener, not disk opener)? Need parts source for seed cups as the new JD Dealer cups do not have the side pins that fit into the cast iron seed boot, although I could probably improvise if I have to. Also wondering how old this thing is...1940's? Thanks for any help.

FB-B is a 60's drill. It is not clear to me what part it is you need when you say seed cups. If you mean the sheet metal tube heads that fit under the cast feedcup (inside which is the metering wheel), I just bought some from the JD dealer for my drill. These are the ones that have a pin on one side and the little lever on the other side. Somebody didn't get you the right part number if that's what you can't get.

Tim- That's the part! I checked with another JD dealer and they say the part stopped being produced in 1977. My local dealer had a few but with the part number sticker on them but I needed an additonal 4 - the newer ones are missing that pin. I am going to try to JB weld some steel pins into the same location. If that works I should be OK. Thanks.

Mine are for an FB, slightly different than yours. However, they have production date stickers on them with the part numbers that say they were made in 1996? . . . . Try www.burrels.net/useddril.htm They specialize in JD drills and parts.
