Curious about bale throwers

In my area, Washington state no one seems to use bale kickers or throwers as I hear discussed here. In past years some of the dairy farmers used them but only with small (14x16) bales. Can you use a kicker with a 16x18 bale? I assume you would have to make the bales short and fairly light for it to work. The question on the 283 below got my curiosity aroused.

We have a NH 280 with a 61 bale thrower. Your right about the shorter and lighter bales. We have been using it sence 1966 and have little problems. I don't think they make throwers for 16x18 balers any more.

I used a 280 baler for several years and it worked well. It was a wire tie though and wire is getting hard to find in this area. I bought a 282 twine which is a heck of a baler. When it doesn't tie it's usually my fault(forgot to put in twine). Not as fast as the newer balers, 283 on up but faster than the 280. A lot of parts interchange so that is great. The 280 was painted(or not) NH rust brown, at least the 282 has nice paint.
