Have any of you all ever made your three point sprayer before? Can you come out ahead by making it yourself? Where would you get a pto pump? Thanks

Look at surplus center for pumps and misc parts. They got some good prices,

Try a company named NORTHERN, they have pumps and tanks and such. I don't know about being cheaper but please let me know how you make out. I've been thinking of this very thing for spraying along pasture fences. It would save about a hundred trips back and forth with a 3 1/2 gallon spray tank.

Not a hard task. Had an old allis C that did not have hydraulics when new and ran a pulley on the pto which turned a belt that drove a power steering pump that was hooked to an old lawn mower gas tank and then to a control valve from tsc.actually worked pretty good. mower tank was used as a reserve for hydraulic fluid and think I had a single cylinder that did all the lifting. you'd be surprised how much pressure a power steering pump puts out.a little welding and a lttle trial and error goes a long way.

If you are thinking of using Roundup in your sprayer DO NOT use steel for your tank.

I bought a 70 dollar pump and an 80 dollar tank at TSC last year and all hoses valves and such and bought new steel form the supplier and came out pretty good. I didnt need andy boom nozzles so I laid off on them but left provisions for them to be added later. Ive built a few custom units for folks here that cost a littlemore thant the TSC sprayers but they were made to fit setain applications for landscapers. I have a friend that deals in surplus steel to so that helped a little. Im building 2 wheel trailer type sprayer now for a customer that will run up to 900 dollars but thats steele labor new hubs and a 400 gallon tank but its still a bit cheaper than a store bought unit and it fits his needs better.
