I'm having problems with my skid loader, I get in it and the seat belt light comes on, I put on the seat belt it goes out. Then I turn the key on and the other lights come on to show they are working and when I hit the key everything goes out and nothing happens. It is almost like the battery is dead but the same thing happened a few weeks ago and I just kept trying and eventually the engine started to crank over, like there was a bad connection somewhere or a short. Any ideas. thanks.

Phil, I agree with Rick. However, let me expound on this a little bit. Start with the battery connections and the cables at BOTH ends. (starter and ground) However, I suspect it might be the separate braided ground strap that grounds the engine to the skid loader frame. The engine is rubber mounted, so a seperate ground strap is used to ground all the accessaries. Steve

Phil,The problem is electrical, the same happened to mine. Checked all the wires and was about ready to replace the computer box when I found there is a ground wire right by the box that had worked lose. I couldn't see it until I went to loosen the bolts for the box. Took it apart cleaned and re connected and it's been fine. You can check there and all the connections, a little dirt can foul that electricity up pretty bad. There should be a very little switch on the bottom of your computer box that will let you flip it over to service mode to bypass the seatbelt and allbut, please don't make that your only way of operating the machine. Find and fix the problem so the safety devices work to your benefit. I hope this will help, and please let us know how you make out.

I'll look for that ground. I'm pretty sure it is a bad connection because sometimes when I turn the switch on all the lights come on and other times they don't, it isn't consistent. The only thing consistent is that the engine won't crank over. The fuel pump doesn't run or anything when I turn the switch on. I saw that small switch for operate/service but I didn't know what it was for. Is it just an override for all the seatbelt switch, if so that would be good for me to eliminate things. It is really starting to bug me. I need to get a manual which I plan to do. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll let you know what I find.

Phil look at you'r seat, sometimes there is a pressure switch in the seat that is connected to the seat belt switch. thats so you have to have you'r butt in the seat for it to start and run, if there is a bad connection it will shut the system down. might have a look at that. hope that helps..... ...Jer

Probably a bad connection at one end or the other of a battery cable. Check and clean ALL cable connections, not just at the battery.
