I am thinking about coming down south for some hay. Buy some big rounds of grass and make small squares out of them.Its getting nasty up here.
$4.50 a bale at the sale this monday.

If anyone's interested, I've got about 250 small square @ $2.50 per, and about 90 4X4 round @ $12 per (going about 900 lbs each). All good fertilized Bermuda. Sold most of mine early in the season. This is all I have left. I'm in Arkansas, Clarksville area.

I've done some of that rebaling. It is a pain in the butt. Only about $5.00 a bale would make me go back and sounds like you guys are close to that.

Your goin to have your work cut out for u with rebaling round bales, its not as easy as u think, but if u do it let us now how it went and what the outcome was.

Unfortunately, the snow came earlier this year & my cattle got out of the cornstalks early, so I'm figuring on using up my round bales. Normally I make 10-20 round bales of cornstalks, but with dad passing away in October my fall got rather complicated & I didn't get to that, so have less feedstock resources this winter.

I am going to hang on to the small squares in the barn tho & watch the markets, have some grass & some of last year's alfalfa in there. :) If these markets continue, might be time to sell off some cattle even if early, and sell hay....

Ok that sounds cool.
My gears are turning. Must be all those years in sales. If I can find some one with hay and no buyers. I got buyers but no hay.
Seems there should be a way to solve that problem.

After the holidaze if life slows down a little bit I was thinking of going to a Hutchenson sale, see what it's going for there. About as close to me as a regular hay sale is....

I'm going to the horse sale today. Same auctioneers as the Wed sale. I'll find out what the last month of sales have been doing.

4 weeks ago, grass was around $2 alfalfa was between $3 - $4 (small squares/majority of the hay there) per the auctioneer.

Sure wish you were closer. I've been straining all year trying to move some hay. Finally got a break last week and sold 2500 bales but still got about 3000 to sell.
