i want to build a forklift type attachment for my tractor.i want to build it like the old johndeere loader,rear lift type.it has to becomplete with a 2or 3 part mast with about 108" in height i am going to attach tilt cylinder via brackets attached to the axle housing i am going to pin the mast to the tractor from similar brackets has anyone ever built one or have any ideas?can i run a hydraulic pump from the pto to power the lift and tilt mechanisms?

I build alot for the hay makers here. I can usually buy an old warehouse forklift for 200 dollars and that supplies the valves, forks and mast for the life. I make the laow lift pin backets then a toplink bracket then put one of the tilt cylinders on it with the ball sockets to make a hydraulic top link that can be used for other jobs. I can usually make 500 on one of these rigs. They are very handy to have. Im building one at the moment.

Sounds like you have it pretty well figured out already, maybe need to check for some commercial units as to component size, etc. Ok to run the hydraulic pump off the pto, easy to do- but it should be live/independent pto, otherwise run it directly off the engine. Only question- what do you mean by the old JD rear loader?

Do an internet search, there are several companies that manufacture them. You might be able to look at some pics and get some ideas.
