I bought a place in western Montana a number of years ago and there was a 50s vintage Dearborn-Wood Bros. Combine with the 6-foot head sitting on the place. It has the Ford engine that is the same as in 8N tractors. It looks to be complete (except for the tires and wheels are gone and it is sitting on the ground) although the wood parts and the rubberized canvas parts are toast from sitting out in the weather. My questions are these:
1. Is there enough interest in these things to warrant fixing it up?
2. If so, is it possible to find parts (rubberized canvas) anywhere.
3. Should I just pull the motor and scrap the rest of it?

best thing to do is to keep it complete. like they said someone might want it to restore or for parts.if it is al together in one piece then it might be more valueable to them

When they're that far gone, there isn't much point in doing a fix-up unless you're REALLY into that sort of thing. Don't just start indiscriminately torching it for scrap, though. Pull out any part that looks like it could be used, and offer the parts for sale separately. Hard to believe, but there is somebody, somewhere, who has a good Dearborn/Wood Bros. combine, but it has one broken part that they can't find anywhere, and it's keeping them from using an otherwise good combine, and you just might have that part they need.
