I live in Northern Colorado and am looking for an elevator 6-8 inches wide by 9-10 feet long for a project I'm working on. The best one I can think of is the "wagon elevator" off a corn picker. I'm having trouble finding one close by, so any help would be appreciated, or any other ideas for an elevator that size. Thanks.

Chris; You need to go to a belt system. Soil in the return elevators wil be back peddley till it will finally plug it. You can still use the elevator, but eliminate the cchain paddle and put a belt in the unit, or even mount the belt to the chain paddles. that is already their. It will have to be cupped on top side though. How long unit do you need. I have a unit that will go under semi trucks for sale. Rick

9-10 feet is what I am looking for, but I can shorten just about anything.

dirt moving will take a lot of power - have u considered an old gutter manure cleaner from a dairy or someplace they are made for it

Dirt is probably a little to loose a term. I'm actually going to move aerification cores from turfgrass. They are about 3-4"long by about 1/2" diameter.

If you are moving damp soil, the best way is to use a belt conveyor. The soil will really build-up on a corn elevator, and take a lot more power to move.

I'm going to be moving a damp soil mixture so I'm afraid an auger is going to plug. By chopper box do you mean a feed grinder, stalk chopper, or what? I'm unfamiliar with that machine.

You could make your own using three 1x8 pine boards in an H pattern, buy single flat chain with links for attaching paddles, and mount your steel drive and boot ends onto the boards.

I'm originally from the Irene,SD area and was there last month, I should have looked around and found one before I left, rather than thinking I could get one here. Not many of the farmers around here handled ear corn. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks

Can it be closed, or open all the way? a clean grain or return elevator from a bigger combine might work if it can be closed.

Either open or closed will work. There are quite a few old combines in my area, any thoughts on specific makes or models, or will they all have similar elevators in them?

Also, the dairy & livestock industry uses a lot of those to move silage & feed into TMR mixers. They are already stand alone with electric motor, heck you could spend crazy money & buy a new one, but could find something that was taken out at a dairy/cattle center that does installations????
