Well,I went out and bought the rebel,I've got a few questions,in the manual the inside tire width on the tractor is a minimun 47".I have a NH TN 70,it measures 44".should I move the tires out or will it matter to run over the outside edges of the windrow?If I should move them out would it be best to go more than the 47" minimun?I have never used a round baler.I know from reading the manual that the size of the windrow does matter more than with the conventional square balers. Sorry! Forgot rule three. Useing a Vermeer baler requires wig-wagging over the windrow to start and role the bale. Our tractors inside tire width is set over five feet for interchangable use upon both balers. Good Luck. If it weren't for my forgetfulness, I mght remember all the details the first time around.

For stability reasons it is best to have your wheels as wide a spacing as you an use in your farming operations. I sure hope you got the hay saver wheels with your Rebel. You can really make a better bale with hay-saver wheels buy feeding hay in the corners and the middle will take care of its self. As mentioned with the tricycle tractor of Leon Williams, he was forced to feed the corners and make better bales so he would not run the front wheels on the windrow. It is much easier today if you purchase a "V" and set it to make a 4' wide windrow and you will not be weaving. The V wheel rake is the best time saving implement in a hay operation.

I would move them out to maybe 48" or 49" This will give you a little room to work with. This way the tires will not run on the hay and it will make it easier to weave back and forth. All you have to do is watch the inside of the front tires. I would try it in then try it out if it is not a lot of trouble to change on your tractor. It is really whatever you prefer. Although dad used to bale with a tricycle front end and told people it help pack the windrow to get it in the baler.

I did a few bales this summer with the narrow front on my 400.
With my old baler you have to go side to side any way. I only had to cross the windrow every now and then. Just ran the front on one side then the other. Seemed to feed just fine.
Got a wide front on it now so cant test on any volume.

We use two. One a 605F Vermeer(dry Hay), the other a 54 Vermeer(haylige). Two problems running too narrow. One knock leaves of alfalpha. Two crop pushed into stubble harder to pickup. I like extra width betwen the tires for my old reflexes when I sometimes run a little extra speed to keep the feed filled under drought conditions.
