How much mower will a 50 hp tractor handle well? Are 10' and 12' mowers common? TIA

Thanks for the replies. Almost forgot I posted here. My cousin is looking for a large brushhog. I'm trying to talk him into hay/crop machines instead. I figure if cattle, and a disc can handle the majority of the @30 acres we have available. The 5' brushhog can handle the rest. Besides, used 10 or 12' mowers are hard to find.

Are you talking disk or sickle-bar? There is a definate HP difference! need 2 or 3x more with disk... how good (tuned up) is the 50hp?

Sorry I didn't make it clear. My cousin is looking for a shredder/mower type. He has a 50 hp mahindra diesel. I know, but he did get a good deal on it. Seems to be in good running shape. Haven't worked it much yet. DON TX

Don Tx; Are you looking for a mower. I have a real nice JD 1460 disc mow/con for sale if you are it is basically ten ft cut. Really works nice. I am just going to larger unit or self propelled. Rick

sort of depends on the tractor some 50HP tractors pull better then others. I wouldn't go bigger then a 10 footer, but I also like to have more power then I need.
