This is just an inquiry about an old threshing belt that Dad has lying in the back of the barn. He was going to cut it up and toss it out. But I stopped him from destroying it. I do not mean for this to be an advertisement! If He decides to sell it, I will take a pic of it and advertise it in full description, etc.. I am just curious if such stuff is worth selling on a forum like this.

It is in reasonable shape and is a sort of cloth (sewn) belt that is used on a flat pulley. It was used "years ago" to run a threshing machine and also a sawmill. It has been rolled up and stored in the barn, and it doesn't look to be mouse chewed or anything. I haven't unrolled it to check for length, but it seems to be quite long.

Again, does stuff like this sell? AND, is it safe to sell this sort of thing??? If it is dangerous to use this old belt (because of design flaws or whatever) and would hurt someone (especially someone that does not know how to treat an old belt)... I would rather just destroy it and be done with it. I really don't want someone hurt by using it!

Whatcha all think?

Thanks!

I've seen them bring over $100, but depends on condition & how many people really want it, $20-40 is pretty common. Wish I had a wider one again, dad got a narrow one for the corn conveyor in the crib.

Yep, they sell. Have a prospective buyer right here if you choose to advertise.

Last weekend I bought a Harvey Red Head belt drive corn sheller at auction. Paid $5.00 for it. The belt was rolled up and next to it in the line. I already have a couple good belts, so I didn't bid on it, but several other people did bid, I think it brought $30. I have seen others bring more.
