Who Made Ford Rotary Brush Cutters?

We have an old Ford rotary brush cutter. It's year is somewhere between 1965 and 1969 I believe. The markings for it are no longer there. It is a 5 ft model, has a slip clutch and has really been a rugged piece of equipment through the years.

Did Ford make these cutters or did they buy them from someone else? If so, who made them.

Also, would anyone know the model numbers for Ford rotary brush cutters of that era and venture a guess as to which model we have.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

I have a 902 pull type FORD brush cutter, or "roto-beater" as they are referred to around here. I have been told that these machines were made by ford, and not private labeled by another source. The model # logic (I think) is , in my case, 9' x 2 blade assys. Your machine may be a 501, 5' x 1 blade?
My machine is very heavy , and well built.I have replaced the top deck as it had been left out too long with wet hay (cut weeds) on it. The rotating assy. is in excellent shape for a machine that must be at least 25 years old.

I noticed you have a Ford 902 rotary mower. I am looking for one here in East Texas? Can you tell me about yours? Does it have high enough blade speed at 540 PTO rpm to give a good cut quality? I mean, can you carry a reasonable fast ground speed with your tractor and get a good cut? Is it just one PTO gearbox that has a pulley, then belts from this gearbox turn the 2 spindles? Is it hydraulically lowered/raised or mechanically?
