I happened to be heading for Columbus yesterday and stopped to look at a JD336 baler. On the back of it was a funny looking cage thing that made reference to being a thrower? There were wire panels on the sides, 2'x3' and a shovel looking device sitting where the bale exits. It didn't seem to have the guts, mechanical ability, to make a thrower per-say (throw it 15' as I see the belt models do) but maybe a hoist/table to lift it to a wagon? What was I looking at???

They are not a trower, they are a "kicker" it kicks the bale up in the air an the wagon drives under it. if you stop quick the bale will land on the ground. the guy that loads two wagons must drive awful fast. I always thought it would be neat to turn the pressure down and back the baler up to the creek bank for a diving platform. If you try it at home don't mention my name, it might be a good way to get all the teenage farm boys hurt. I mentioned my idea to a farmer that had one of those balers (I was a grown man at the time) He said "you better have the prongs stuck good in your a$$." HA HA

Never used one, but work well for all the folks around me that have them.

My uncle got a numb arm for months when he was working on one & it went off unexpectedly. Be careful that you undersatnd what you are looking at when very near one.

YES, they will throw bales!!! Really toss them up and out. You wouldn't want to be hit by one! The wire mesh cage is a safety shield. They're a top-notch system for loading a wagon.

It's called a "kicker". It will throw a bale as far as a belt driven thrower.
