IH Little Genius Plow Info.

I found a catalog that I am going to order my wheels and tires out of for my #8 Little Genius 2 bottom plow. What are the dimension sizes for the wheels I need to get? What size tires do I get? Do I need to buy tubes also or do I just put the tire on? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I need the size and offset for the wheels.

If you are using 15' rims I would go with 670 or a 710 tire. If it is a trip plow probably should have a traction tire on the clutch wheel. I would put tubes in them otherwise dirt may get in the bead breaking the seal especially on the furrow wheel. Stay away from the radial tire on this application.David B

I don't know about the offset, but something to keep in mind, the original manual I have for the little genius #8 mentions that the 16 inch wheel is standard, but also states that the 15 inch is available as an option. If it were me, I would go with the 15 inch, it would still be correct, and much easier to find tires. Actually, I don't think I would worry about the offset, any standard implement wheel with the correct bolt pattern should work.

I am here looking at tire sizes and it says:

400-15
500-15
590-15
640-15
670-15
760-15
What do these numbers mean? Which size do I buy? Do I get both wheels the same size? Thanks for the help.

Martin, the wheels on a #8 are not the standard ag wheels you buy now. The bolt pattern is different. I'm not sure where you can purchase them new anymore, but there may be someone out there with them. I've seen these plows in action and they have little clearance, so I'd use the larger sizes. The 670X15 and the 760X15 are common Implement tires, but I'm not aware of them being made with a traction tread pattern, as that is what you will need for the left side. Goodyear does make a 590X15 in a traction implement tread. I thought some 16" tires were optional. If you find that they are, Bridgestone makes a 750X16 in a Knobby tire that would do nicely, but they are rather expensive. Good luck. If you have more questions, shoot me an e-mail.
