I just purchased a 2 Bottom Little Genius plow on rubber. It appears complete, but I don't understand the hitch. There is a large hook which must have hooked to a clevis on the tractor drawbar. There is also a small clevis on the plow hitch just above the hook. It would also hook to the drawbar, but does not look heavy enough to pull the plow. Can someone explain how this worked?

Gary: Is the clevis a twisted type? If so that is what pulls plow. That hook has spring, allowing it to trip, thus giving protection to the plow.

Hugh, the clevis on the hitch is straight. I'm guessing I'm missing the twisted clevis to plow with. The one on the hitch looks original, but is only about a 3-4" straight clevis that will take about a 5/8" pin. It is mounted above the pulling hook, but not to it. I was wondering if they used that when transporting the unit to make sure it did not come unhooked. It's got me puzzled.

Gary: You can still buy those twisted clevis. I have seen them at dealers, in the display with drawbar pins, hooks, etc. Some people like the big ring with a flat plate welded to it for bolting to drawbar. I have even pulled those plows with a clevis like you have and a big ring.

On my home farm the twisted clevis seemed to get used for other chores as well, thus it was not always where it should be.
