Hi, I am normally a Ford man, but we have a JD #11 mower. I noticed last night that the sickle would not register on the in-stoke. Out-stroke was fine, but it would come over center about 1/2 inch on the instroke. On the Ford stuff that I have used, the sickle was not registering unless it centered on the in and out stroke. Is this a normal situation or a JD? Is our mower registering correctly or should I make soem adjustments? The mower seems to be cutting fine, yet so I am not sure on the register. Also, anyone know where I can get a manuel for this mower?

thank you, in advance for your help

We use a Deere 9W behind our MH50. When I first got it I wrote to Deere and got both the manual and parts book for a few bucks. Maybe your local dealer would also have them or could get them via their excellent parts network.

The 9W register was off, and the book told how to adjust the length of a strut to get it back. It has stayed put for 15 years now.

You might also check the lead of the bar, too, since that should be pretty easy to adjust.

An operator's manual ahould still be available through John Deere. Your mower was designed with about 1/4" of "overstroke". Just adjust it so it is even at the end of each stroke. Not a big deal. Mike Aylward

I have a #9 mower and I sent to JD for a manual. I am at work so I don't have any info but I will get it for you in the morning. The manual says the blade should travel an equal distance on each side of the guard. If not, you might want to adjust it. If it is working OK maybe leave it alone? I don't know what to advise. Talk to you in the morning.
