We have a 1948 JD manure spreader, had it about a year now. It has been working great until lately. Sometimes the blades spin and sometimes they won't. We can't see anything wrong. Any ideas?

Depends on the model, but most likely either the chain is loose and jumping the sprocket teeth, or the sprocket has come loose on the driveshaft.

Have you had the side covers off to look at it?

I don't think it has covers anymore.
