I am unclear as to what a Rotovator is!

I am seeking essentially a Troybilt tiller that is 4' wide that can be used by my Allis C. If not I could use my Farmall 666 but prefer the C.

I have seen photos of a Rotovator and it seemed to be a cultivator in that it did multiple rows simultaneously.

Thanks for any help.

Folks,

Thanks for all the responses! I am seeking a Rotovator or similiar for my operation. Are there other manufactures that make similiar equipment? What is the generic name for these devices?

I am in Upstate-NY and would to like to purchase a 4 foot model from any manufacturer if in good shape.

Thanks in advance for information and advice!

The name Rotavator belongs to Howard, and it's there version of a tillage tool.

For gardens there really is no difference between what a rotavator, and a tiller does. BUT, for field use, there is! Rotavators are made to be pulled faster, and are ajustable in several ways to get the tilth you want.

Here's one of my Rotavators working in a field.

My Dad has a pull type howard rotavtor from the late 1940s. It was made in the United Kingdom and imported as it seems Howard U.S. didnt come about until 1948 or so. It still runs very smooth but needs new seals. He hopes to use it this coming spring to prepare his garden seed bed. It is like a Giant rotatiller that is 4 to 5 feet long and is pto powered, and rides on 2 tires and hooks up like any other pull type impliment.

We have a 4 foot rotovator that we use on our Kubota I am going to try it on our C next year. Just remember you have to disconnect the pto shaft if you want to be able to go up and down with it without the tines spinning as the c's hydraulics only work when the pto is engaged.

This picture is of a inter-row tiller made by Comeb. It is also available from other MFG.
