I am looking for a way to plant pumpkin seeds quickly and in rows. I have hear corn pickers work but no one has been able to tell me if I need different plates or how to do it. We have a John Deere 2row corn planter now. Thanks

take a set of corn or bean plates & play with the seed to see if 2or3 seeds will fit into a slot, fill remainder of slots with bondo or weld them shut.. play with gears till ya get the spacing you want.. can also space your planter boxes further apart or not use one & plant one row at a time, get a permit to shoot the deer & happy holloween

I'm surprised you didn't get more of a reply. I hear of it done all the time. But not how.

I would assume you need to really slow the seed drop down? Don't know if you pick a plate that makes a 'hill' of seed, or if you get a special small seed plate.....

Years ago when my Dad planted corn and we cut it by hand he would mix the pumpkin seeds in with the corn. He also used a JD planter of the 2 row horse drawn type. May take a little modification to the plates to get the plant spacing correct.I sorta remember that the planter also had gears that could be changed but that has been at least 45 years ago. Best of luck with your project and thanks muchly for the memory.
