ok here's the question, i am restoring this plow for show and use, i have begun to remove the wheels , here's my problem, the land axle side, where the clutch is. I have removed the 3 bolts that hold the outer cap on , and removed the linch pin , so the outer parts are off , Iwent to remove the wheel itself, and I can only remove it about 1/2 way off the axle itself. I have all the necessary books here also i read them , called my local dealer , they dont know whats holding it on either. It feels like there is a lock ring or pin that may be inside the clutch assembly. Could that be or does any one have any ideas on how this should slip off the axle? I have read 3 times the manuals , parts lists, and operation manuals , and no luck. I hope one of you have ideas , and thanks for the help.

Keith, This is a common problem and after you get it off or study the pictures in the parts manual you will see the problem. Put the pin back in the axle, the wheel is held onto the large tapered splines and needs to be jarred loose. A large puller against the end of the axle and hooked to the hub of the wheel OR a jack against the axle with chains hooked to the spokes (Be very tender with this arrangement) put some tension on the jack or puller then bump the back (inside) of the wheel hub using a block of hard wood and a big hammer. The wheel should pop off fairly quickly. Good luck. Bob
