It's been an unusual year here in Missouri. Last night I cut some hay & have to cut more tonight. It got dry early in the summer & the grass was burnt to a crisp. I was feeding hay in August. Then it started raining & the grass came back. Did a second cutting & thought I was finished. Now on the third cutting. Last year didn't even get a second cutting.

Yeh, tell me about it; mowed 3 acres on the 11th and baled on the 18th. got 50 bales. Weird part : Northern Indiana.Mguy.

I'm still baling here north of Dallas about 70 miles. Have approx. 200 acres yet to go and just got another job tonight. I have baled up into December before, may do it again this year????? ?? Its been a crazy year for sure.

Consider yourself blessed that you are getting some hay put up. About the only hay put up in the Texas panhandle and eastern NM was irrigated. We did get some late rain too but most of the haygrazer was burnt up and too high in nitrates for hay but might can graze after a hard freeze. Sometimes we don't get haygrazer hay put up till November when it does rain. You can probably sell that hay down here later when it gets short this winter which it will in a lot of places this winter.

Would love to, only problem most of our hay went up so heavy it is dusty. Then that's a lot of diesel fuel to ship hay to Texas. Can do if the price is right though. I sent 4 loads of timothy to east Texas in '95 or so.

Get a rate on a 50' box car from Ky to Tx. I'm serious. Some shortlines are very aggressive about getting one and two carload business and the rates may not be as bad as you might think they would be.

it's normal to make hay in october and even november here in se texas. with the nice sunny weather we been having lots of folks are getting a really good crop this cutting.

here in new england we will do silage bales till the end of oct. we have some second cutting never done this year because of rain. once late sept comes, you cannot bale here unless you get 5 days of sun which is rare.

Last year we had the same thing and put up hay in December. We had to wrap it and make haylage because we would of never got it cured.
