My husband and I recently acquired from a family member an original patent, drawings and original model for a Hay Rake and Tedder that was patented by my husband's great-great-great grandfather Dickenson A.Calkins of Monson, MA in 1876 and then improved by Mr. Calkins in 1878 patent #210,093. All documents are stamped with the official United States Government seal. Would anyone know if this Hay Rake and Tedder was ever produced or how I could find out? We have been unsuccessful in finding any further history on this tedder. The model is in almost perfect condition and so are the documents.

I have found a history page for Monson, Maine, of which I post the link below.

It does not mention any product being manufactured there other than a furniture company.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. However, the Calkins I am refering to was from Monson Massachusetts not Maine. I will check out your link however. Maybe they are some how related.

Regards,
Rebecca

Here, try this; My ancestors lived in Monson befor the war, (the Revolutionary War) I happened on to a man that knew a lot about the area and was very helpful. He was involved with the county Historical Society there. I seem to have lost his name and adress. If you would write a letter to the Postmaster there at Monson stating what you are looking for chances are they could forward your letter to someone who could help you. I would be interested in learing more about this too.
