Just as another information point for you: I had two MF 10s, which I understand are very similar and have many/most common parts.

I had knotter problems with both. both machines missed many knots, and one of them had been gently used on a tiny farm and was near new. Most parts were available for order from my local MF dealer, although some were not, and most were expensive (a knotter bill hook, for example, was quoted to me as $85 each and then after 2 months on order I was finally told it wasn't available anymore).

Sold both the MFs and got an older New Holland and have been much happier.

We use a 12 on our farm, have been for atleast my whole life(19 years) and we seldom had a problem. Once we had a little knotter work done, but since then it's worked great. Parts are still available, shear bolts are one thing that should be bought from the dealler only, as they have a 3/8" shank, with 1/2" fine thread nut and head. Everybody says to make a good bale the blades need to be sharpened, but we never touched ours and it makes a GOOD, SOLID(50-70 lbs depending on hay)and SQUARE bale. never sh!ts out banana bales, and is overall a very good baler. Of course 99.9% of it depends on it's current condition. A worn out baler, no matter what make or model, WILL NOT make a good bale.
