OK - I assume it is not the big bottom one

I have in my records how long these belts are supposed to be - if u need to know -

in my area TSC sells belting (only the 2 ply stuff) 4" inches wide for about $2/ foot
then the splices are like $2 each - BUT u have to have a machine to do it - that is liek another $45

but u have to cut the belt square to put a splice point in - so if it a big long tear or something you might have to stick in a new little piece so this belt is not a lot shorter than the rest of them or it will keep breaking because all the force is on this one belt -

one important thing is to make sure all the belts are roughly the same length - otherwise that could be part of the problem -

then if they are a lot shorter than the original equipment ones it will not have enough slack when the machine is empty to get a big enough ball in the bottom to start that ball turning - that is the main problem with mine..... the previous owners have patched many times until the belts are all a little short - since i have the splicer i will probably buy 1 more belt and take one out and cut it up so all the belts are back to original length

Just curious. Is this the IH baler that has the large belt in the floor of the bale chamber? I remember looking at one years ago and someone steered me away from it.

Yes it is. I purchased this one because it can be run with very little HP.
You can run it with less than 30hp.
This is going to be my get me by baler. Till I get enough hay cash to buy a Vermeer 504. Then it will be my back up rig.
For $300 it turns bales good enough.

I still have lots of tweeking to do to get it to make good bales though. Some one recomended I get the dual spring conversion for it. I am on the hunt for that right now.

I thought so. You've got my vote on the Vermeer. I'd like to get a 504 myself sometime. I've been using a "D" 6'x 5' forever. I usually make a 5 foot bale. No point killing my old loader tractor. I don't think I'll ever wear the baler out but it might wear me out! I can't justify a new one with the acreage I have. I see the odd used one listed now & then. Maybe someday.

Here's a website that sells belts in bulk, if you ever need replace more. Their prices are reasonable.

If you are going to keep this baler you could buy your own splicer. If it is a temporary machine just find a dealer that has a splicer and pay the high price a few times.
