Hi,
Anybody know what is the best current match for the paint used on the Dearborn series of implements. I've seen lots of these around (and have 3 Dearborn implements currently) and would like to spiff them up. But all the ones I have seen (unrestored) have been faded and/or rusty so can't tell exact color. Would like to use something simple (like rustoleum or similar) as am not looking for show quality - just to make a working implement presentable (and that looks right). Have never seen a "restored" one, and ones that have simply been painted don't seem the right shade. So . . . any suggestions? Thanks.

Check with your local farm implement places that carry Tisco products. Tisco makes Dearborn red in spray cans at a reasonable price or at least did last time I bought some.

Les... I have a question re/ my Dearborn disc. If one of your implements is a disc, maybe you can help me out. I have a 6' tandem disc, a drag behind model. Don't know its age, probably 40s vintage. I don't grow crops, just use it to scuff up my pasture prior to re-seeding. My pasture is not smooth and level, but has ups and downs in a good part of it. ( A former occupant raised hogs, and allowed them to range over the pasture. You can imagine the rooting they did. ) The problem is this; the two rear gangs of discs are joined together in the center by a round rod, about 3/4" in diameter, which is bent down at 90 degree angles at each end. The downward ends of the bar go through holes in steel brackets welded to each gang of rear discs. When I drag the disc over uneven ground, one gang will be raised in the air while the other is in a low spot. At this point, the connecting bar becomes jammed in the bracket and one gang of disks remains stuck in the air. I hope this explantion is clear to you. I don't even know if this connecting bar is original equipment. I hope that you, or anyone, for that matter , can steer me in the right direction on this. Thanks, Jack.
