I have an old covington 2 row. I bought it for $75 and replaced the presser wheels and fertilizer boxes on it. I guess I have $200+ in it now. I hobby farm and plant 3-4 acres of corn with it for the deer on my place. It does a good job but you have to understand it. The presser wheels have to be free to float and you have to have a proper amount of pressure on the wheels to make it work right. The first year, I struggled. The last two, I haven't had a skip in the fields. You can't go too fast and it seems to do better if the ground is not fresh tilled. It does the best job when you have the ground good and get a light shower on it first or a little crusted. If the ground is very loose, it makes the set up need to be more exact or the presser wheels will slide on you. Another note--old plates don't fit the seed. You also don't know the if things are wrong like chain too short, around sprockets wrong, etc. I had these problems. For 2 acres, I think I would consider a new one ro I usually set it to where the presser wheels are only a couple of inches off the ground when lifted.
