... to paint 'yer bottoms when you're done plowin' (your plow bottoms that is) Haven't used mine in 2 years but I paint it everytime, and every time the paint rubs right off within one complete round, if not sooner(this year it was 1/2 a round) Heck of a lot easier to pull than a rusty bottom when scouring, worth that can of spray paint in my book.

For years, we've cut some bulk grease with a little diesel fuel and painted the moldboards, coulters etc. with that mixture. Works real well

Been there, done that. Grease works great until your cattle get out and find it. You don't usualy know they licked the molbords clean til you need to use the plow and by then they're good'n rusty. I like paint!

In our soil it can be tough to scour the paint off sometimes. Here's a remmidy I learned from an oldtimer if you have the same problem. Easy Off oven cleaner-spray it on and in 10min sink it in the ground for 50ft and it's clean and shiny...like your oven!!

If you have to buy paint, specifically for the job, try black "header" paint. (High heat paint) It doesn't cost but a few cents more, and it will scour off in a few feet. It needs to be heated to have any lasting power. I bought a can to paint a grill, and used the leftovers to paint my plow bottoms. It worked great.

All my friends know how I feel. I have been hosting a plow day at my farm for the past 3 years and put right on the flyer, "Rusty plows will not be unloaded" I encourage guys to use oil, Grease, paint, and store them inside.

Sounds like a good idea to get all yer fields plowed, make conversation, shoot some sh!t, and maybe a little money on the side. Do you charge for entry, or is it just come and show 'em whatcha got? Sounds like something I could try to organize next year or some time, I myself have my 1755 and 565 Oliver plow along with an IH little genous 2-14, pull that with my Massey 165 gasser. Sat in my grandpa's then dad's shed for atleast 20 years, sunk into the ground and pitted a little, but they shined up fairly decent after a good number of passes. Shined up a little then the paint kept them that way till I did an entire feild the next year, and every year I try to use it a little bit, just to keep it shiny. Still has some pits but the dirt still goes right over them.

A trick my dad told me,soak a rusty moweboard with brake fluid for two days and they will shine right up,but a disc sander is faster.
