Horn Loader on a JD 2 cyl?

I have a NI horn loader that I bought for $10 last year..... ..... Had it on our Farmall 400 for the about a year now. Well it has to come off for the NI picker to go on the tractor. This loader worked nice on it but is a pain to take on and off for tractor pulls and putting the picker on. We just bought a '49 JD "A" and I was wondering if anyone knows whether it will fit?(Before I scratch up my freshly painted brackets trying to mount it)..... .....I have concerns about it hitting on the belt pulley. Does anyone have a picture of one on a Deere so I can get an idea of how the brackets should be mounted.

The tractor and loader don't see much use so I figure by putting them together I will have a loader when ever I need it without any fuss.....

Got a JD B with a Horn loader, see link below. (Be sure to go on to pages linked on bottom of first page.) Works very well, lifts a lot of weight. We were using it for moving rocks before we took it off to restore the tractor. Only problem with the setup was the lack of live hyraulics. Plan on spending time shifting to neutral, engaging clutch, lifting, unclutching shifting into gear, etc... Uncle had a Deere laoder on a 50 with live hydralics, and it worked extremely well.

Thanks for posting those pictures of the loader on your JD. I was always wondering what kind of loader I put on my Farmall H a few years ago, it didn't have any tags (or paint) left when I got it. Bought it from a guy restoring a Massey Harris. It has a big snow bucket on it, which was my eventual downfall. The loader has so much lift capacity that last winter while I was plowing at the neighbors and didn't realize the main mounting rod (solid 2") had slid over so when I picked up the loader it bent the right arm (of course I held the hydro on too long as I just thought it was lifting slow...) because the rod was holding that side down. It can out-lift the Koyker loader on my 560 anyday, or used to anyway. It was a good reason to take the Horn loader off and build myself a 3 pt. hitch for the H and now I have a rear blade on it. If anyone needs a nice snow bucket or a pair of cylinders for one....

Loaders on older Deeres are offset to clear the pulley. Your best bet would be to check out a tractor with a 45 loader mounted to see the setup. Central PA? Me too. Email me if you want more info.

You will have to figure the cylinders out as the loader and the 400 have single action cylinders while the J D is two way hydrolics

I've had a NI loader on a J D for years. The only thing you may have to change would be the axle brackets. It will work good on there.
