Could some one please tell me if the control rod for the plunger stop is straight, or bent on the stop end . I'm not refering to the connector, but about 6" from that end?

24T baler?

Betcha you forgot to mention it's for a JD 24T baler, didn't you???? :) You could probably continue adding questions to your one thread on this page, people read groupings more than single messages I've found.

Sorry, I only know NH balers, so can't really help. When we forgot about timing & just put the chain on & busted the needles, it also arc'ed that rod more than it should have been, had to adjust the rod, as well as the connecting rod that pulls the needles up. Really goofed up a lot of stuff when that happened.....
