I need info about my IHC plow, like the year of product, the place where the company located, the model, etc', they all say it is 'little genius' (what's that?) it have four blades. On each part in this plow, where there is part number stamped, there is also the two signs OP nearby. I have pictures of this plow if it is necessary. any help highly appreciated. thank you, Gideon

Gideon: Your plow is not necessarily a No, 8 Little Genius. There was a No.4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 15 Most were available up to 4 and 5 bottom models. Models 4,5,7,10 and 12 were orchard plows, either levers pointed rearwards or depth and levelling was done by crank. The No.8 was the most common and built from 1928 until 1960. The 14 was a deep tillage plow, capable of plowing 16" deep. The 15 was a high clearence plow designed for plowing down corn stalks as well as other heavy crop residue. There was also a number 16, built from 1953 to 1965. Available in 3, 4 and 5 bottom the description leaves you with the opinion it's just a heavy frame No.8 The structure of the number 8 probably suffered a bit as a 4 and 5 bottom plow.

I'm thinking that the letters are PO? not OP?
P was for Parlin, William Parlin.
O was for Orendorff, William J. Orendorff (Parlin's brother in law.)

My best guess is you have a McCormick-Deering Genius Tractor Plow No.8
They were available in 2,3 and 4 furrow, with 10",12",14" or 16" bottoms.

Check if the rear wheel is movable or fixed. The movable wheel model was the Little Genius, the fixed tailwheel model was called a Little Wonder. First models of Parlin plows came out in 1847. Orendorff joined in 1850. THey were one of the first companies to make their plows completely from steel.
IHC bought them out in 1919.

Gideon, when you say four blades, I guess use mean four bottoms. I thought the biggest Little Genius
was a three bottom. The IHC #8 was called a Little Genius and the part #s are stamped on the individual parts and most all of them start with PO , eg, the first beam is part#PO 17 184. As to the owmers' manuals, you will have to find a used one.I don't know the years of production, But I would guess they were made during the '30s and '40s
