Advise wanted for hauling a JD 14T

If I decide to buy this JD 14T, I would either tow it behind my little truck or have a friend haul it. The baler is about 40 miles away.

If I haul it, however, I need to know some things in advance.

1. How wide are these balers outside to outside on the tires?

2. If the thing would fit onto a trailer, how do you tie the thing down? This will be a little different than hauling a tractor!

3. Anyone know the weight?

Thanks again in advance,
Bill

People below have given good comments about towing.
However, what about STOPPING? You don't have any brakes on that baler: what happens if you are forced to stop quickly? This is not a pretty thought, even at 20-30 mph, let alone the other speeds mentioned.

I have towed 2 Nh 68's 125 mi each and a NH268 190 mi in the last year. Balers tow just fine.
But spare tires are a must have. I blew the heavy side tire on one of the 68's on the way home. I had brought a spare tire and wheel and made short work of it.
When I towed the 268 home the 190 mi. I had put 2 used but good road tires on rims and took them with me. I put those on when I came home. I could tow 50 mph with no problem. I did wear out both tires getting home though. It was worth the 2 tires for the 50 mph.
You must stay off the main high ways. Way to much traffic there and they are all in a hurry.
I planned my route so as to only use county roads.
Microsoft Streets and trips with a lap top is great for routing. Otherwise a Gazzeter type map that shows the small county roads is fine. Try to stay with the paved roads. Those bumpy dirt roads really bounce you around.
Also might greese the wheel bearrings before you leave.

Remember most of those implement tires are only rated for 20 MPH, not 65 that some people tow them at.

Pull it ,dont haul it. Those things are awkward as heck to load . I bought mine 75 miles away I pulled it home behind a 1 ton ,just for curiosities sake I pushed it up to 65 for a few seconds just to see what it'd do.It pulled fine. 30 or even 40 mph will do just fine. They do like to bounce the tongue where the road is rough,so make sure theres a wire or something to keep the hitch pin in.

I hauled my 224T home 40 miles thru back roads behind a Buick Park Avenue. If your pickup is small you might want to get up a little speed before hitting any hills. Other than that they trailer very nicely if you use a little common sense.

If possible, I'd pull it behind a pickup. I have pulled my balers 80 miles one way with out any trouble. Just make sure the bearings are well greased and go a decent speed. I don't go over 30mph when towing it.

I WOULD TOW IT HOME FIND SECONDARY ROADS AND GO WITH IT. THEY ARE LITTLE OVER 10 FT WIDE, SO ROADS YOU TAKE CANT BE TO NARROW. WEIGHT I WOULD GUESS AT 3000-3500 LBS. I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD BE VERY HARD TO LOAD ON A TRAILER SIDE WAYS. MY TWO CENTS.

When the dealer delivered mine he had a small wheel that clamped to the axle under the auger chamber so that the baler could sit on the truck with the right-side wheel hanging off the side.
