Does anyone out there have any experience with a King Cutter Brush Hog sold by TSC. I am thinking of buying one for use on my super c if I can find a way to hook it to the fast hitch.

I have a 5' King Kutter that I bought from Farm Fleet about 4 years ago. The price was right and it has served me well using my TO-20 Ferguson. I use it to mow a hay field and some rough areas. It actually works fairly good doing lawn areas although I have a finish mower for that. When it was new, I knew that I had to fill the gearbox with oil and forgot anyway. I ran it two rounds without oil , but it didn't seem to hurt it. How is that for luck?

I have a 5' King Kutter that I bought when I got my 135 Massey back from the people I sold it too. I have the King Kutter up for sale, but not because of any problems with it, I just had the opportunity to buy back the Rhino from the same people that we had bought new.
As for the King Kutter, it mowed pretty good for me and I must say that I don't agree with the statement made earlier aobut TSC selling second rate merchandise, every place no matter what name is on the building is going to have some things that are not 100 % perfect. I will admit however if buying a new or used mower I would prefer to look for a Rhino, Bush Hog or Deere. In fact I'm working on getting a 1508 Deere 15' flex wing mower now if all the loan stuff goes through ok.

maybe i better backup here and say i meant to say that TSC merchandise looks a bit "light duty" and not second rate. i even have an older model howse cutter (we all know they are lower end) and it looks and performs like well built higher end rotary cutter. still prefer Bush Hog and Rhino and the ones i have do very well and are extremely well built and never had any trouble from them so far. sorry, did not mean to ruffle any feathers here. just speaking from personal preference.

Hey Hay,
No feathers ruffled here, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I do have to say that some of the things I have seen do look a little light but it all depends on what you want to do with it too. We all just exchanging ideas and experiences.

As has already been said here is King Cutter is not really a "bush hog" but a medium duty rotary mower. However since you pulling it with a "C" I don't think you are intending to cut much thats bigger than a few weeds & berry vines so you won't do any damage to the gear box.
It is low end but may fit your purpose. Good luck..... .....Bob

Go to the website "worksaver.com" They make adapter kits or just that purpose. I have one on my Farmall 200, and use it on a 5' generic brushhog. Works OK unless I'm trying to sherd a path through the woods!

I've seen King Kutters at Wenger's in Pennsylvania set up with fast-hitch prongs. I don't know if this is available from KK or if Wenger's does this modification themselves.

I've had a 5' King Kutter on a 40hp MF 240 for quite a few years and have had no problems; however, I've taken care not to try to cut heavy woody brush with it - mostly only blackberry vines, weeds etc. Since the 5' cut seemed small for the acreage that I try to mow, I bought a 6' Rhino last summer - not the light weight model, but one of the heavier models - a TW72. That thing is built like a tank!!!! It is actually more hog than my 40hp MF can comfortably handle - I'm going to have to add weights to the front of the tractor as it lifts the front end slightly when I try to lift it with the 3-point on a grade. I've had no problem cutting +1" thorn bushes, small trees etc. with the Rhino. So ..... what am I trying to say??? If you have "normal" stuff to cut like weeds, berry bushes etc. then I would think that the King Kutter should serve you well, but if you expect to cut real heavy brush you may want to look at a heavier machine. If you go for a Rhino, take time to check out weight of tractor vs. cutter, hp requirements, etc. or, like me, you may end up with more cutter than tractor!!

I have a King Cutter six footer and it has worked real well for me. I don't know the age of it as I bought it at an auction. At that time it was painted blue but it clearly had King Cutter right along each side. I have run into old stumps and such and even broken one blade (replaced both)and have done no apparent damage to the gear box. I have had to add a bolt here and there as some would get lost while working it but, it has held up good and thats all I can expect or ask.

be wary of anything from TSC. even though King Kutter is a name brand (lower end) TSC has a nasty habit of selling second rate merchandise. check it out throughly before you buy. also the gearbox on them cutters are rather low hp so dont get it into a bind or there may be repairs in your future. personally, i like bush hog brand and rhino brand. "the sweetness of cheap prices is forgotton sooner than the bitterness of poor quality".

I have heard good things about them. You can do a search here and get more info. Another configuration you might consider is a pull behind vs lift brush cutter.
