Vicon 240 hay conditioner

I bought a used Vicon 240 hay conditioner. Was looking at the instruction manual (which is rather skimpy) regarding the grease zerk placement for the rollers. I'm having trouble finding the zerk for the right hand side (as standing from behind conditioner) lower roller. The left hand sider lower roller zerk is actually on the roller itself (it turns with the surface of the roller). The right hand zerk may have broken off. I've tried to locate a hole or stub where it may have been, but no luck so far. There is a small hole in the frame that suggests an access point for a grease gun (just the like the zerk above it on the upper roller) to the surface of the roller. Anybody have a similar experience or know about this model?

You have found it!! Yes it should be in the frame hole that you are talking about. I have one that I bought new 16 years ago. It has been a pretty good machine but not without a few problems. However, I corrected most of them. Most of these machines were parked for drive shaft problems. I corrected that myself, with an 80 degree shaft. Be glad to help if you have anymore questions.

So the zerk should be on the roller itself? (i.e., it should be turning with the roller?...the surface of the roller "hub" on the right is smooth. I think the zerk has broken off and the hole is full of dirt, but I haven't been able to get the pressure washer fired up to clean things out a bit and do a more thorough search).


Also, what do you mean by an 80 degree shaft?

Tried mine for the first time 2 days ago. Cuts great, but the rollers are spaced too far apart to get a good crimping action. Need to bring them closer and tighten the spring action that holds them together.
