i have 2 twin v rakes..r23..the bearing problem that was talked about below has been changed on my rakes..i went to new style bearing..all i had to do was buy a 4 x 3/4 fine thread bolt and put bearing in..just put new bearing on each end ..oh yes buy your bearing at jd..ask for the new bearing for a 705..deere beats vermeer here in east tx by $13 per bearing..i also added a plate and chains to each side of rake where all you have to do is let rake down, unhook and drive forward till chains catch. get off hook up arms..makes it a lot easier..hope this helps ...have nice day may god bless

Bill,I ran a R23 Vermeer rake for several yrs. They rake good, the downside to mine was I couldn't keep the reel pipe brgs. from coming apart. They are hard to move from transport to field position unless it is on pavement.Mine was bought new in mid 90's.Both these problems have been corrected on new models with larger caster whl's and diff.brgs.I rake with a 35 hp tractor so I installed a hyd. pto pump and used the tongue for a oil tank.I didn't like wearing out the hyd.pump on my tractor. If you decide to get one and you have run it several hrs.you will see how HOT the hoses get. That tells me that tractor hyd. oil is HOT also.I traded it for a 12 whl. pulltype V rake that I like better. It will rake real close to the R23 and to go thru a small gate just hit the tractor's hyd's no tugging and pushing!!!!! !!Jim B

To tell you the truth there has been a hefty price increase for next year. I would try to purchase a rake already in stock at a Vermeer dealer. All the rakes coming from Europe have any thing from a 10-25% increase in price for next year.

I have not used their rakes, but Vermeer is the only baler I run. They are 100% trouble free for me. If the rakes are as good, you'll be happy. I run a Sistrex 10-wheel V-rake and have had no trouble with it. (I have replaced a few teeth, but you do that with any rake.) I think you will find a V-rake to be the most time saving piece of hay equipment you ever purchased.
