IHC feed grinder

it is a burr mill that has 2 beater type things with a bar in between them that sits on top of the bowl portion where the feed is ground then the feed is forced into a grind stone then out the shute am i right and can i grind shell corn

When they were new or newer they had a elevator under the bowl where the ground feed comes out. The elevator was made of wood with a chain on the inside to move the feed to a wagon or whatever. The chain had flights on it like the return on a combine. The flights where made of belting. The elevator was run by a flat belt off the grinder there is or was a flat pulley on the grinder. The newer pto driven ones had a auger and used a v belt to run it. Not sure if ih made one with pto. The letz burr mill company made them and was sold by john deere. These machinces will grind shelled corn or milo. The one i have i took the auger of because it was rusted out. I have some small barrels that just fit under the bowl they hold about 15 gallons it takes longer to hookup than it does to grind. Sure like mine could even make corn meal if you wanted to screw it down tight enough. Would be nice if it had a magnet to catch any metal that might be in the grain.

A Burr mill has a hopper for the grain. Then most have a cob crusher. The revolving cob crusher crushes cob corn. Next comes the burrs, or plates. Their are many kinds of burrs, for grinding coarse, medium or fine. Most farm type Burr Mills are 6, 8 or 10 inches. You can grind any type of grain. Oat, Barley, Cob Corn, Shelled Corn, Wheat and others. If our not sure if what you have is a Burr Mill. Go on search, and look up Burr Mill
