TSC hydraulic couplers

I borrowed a field cultivator from a nieghbor, to see if I liked it enough to buy one of my own. I was close to a Tractor Supply Co. store, and needed 2 JD hose nipples. I bought them with the plan of using them long enough to try the cultivator. What a disaster it turned out to be. Everytime I tried to turn, the hoses would blow off. I had to stop about 20 times, inside of an hour, to put the hoses back on. It got so bad, that I went home, and took 2 John Deere O.E.M. nipples of of another piece of equipment. They worked flawlessly, for the rest of the day. My question is, has anyone else had any problems with TSC couplings? They are the JD type, and not the Pioneer's that everyone else seems to be using nowadays.

i never had any trouble but i used the standard type. yeh tsc is definitly not oem specs!! lol i even double check the overhalls pockets to make sure they are sewned securely before i buy them. while cheap and handy, tsc is not the bastion of quality!! lol i have noticed with a lot of stuff being manufactured in mexico , like the overhalls , there is not much quality control.

If they kept coming out they were probably machined a few mils too small. All it takes is for a standard automated type screw machine (which produces numerous repeated machining steps) to get out of tolerance small amount...if nobody is checking the product.

I presume you returned the faulty product?

Who manufactured them? TSC only sells them, where were they sourced from? Probably only a few companies across the world manufaturing.....

The only couplers I have seen sold at TSC were either PIONEER (made, in varying styles) and SAFEWAY (also made in several styles). The SAFEWAY brand couplers and PIONEER brand couplers refer only to the actual couplers. The other fittings, elbows, reducers, nipples CAN be a third or fourth brand. I have some that are packaged and sold as "Apache". All of it appears to be of fairly good, if generic, quality and I have seen the same fittings sold at a lot of other places too!

It might also be that your coupler itself has a little excess wear in it or that it is worn just enough to be "finicky" regarding the fit of the "nipple" to the coupler.
