I have a set of fertilizer and seed boxes for a JD 290 planter, and lots of plates for one that I cleaned out of a barn. Trying to figure out what they are worth, the fertilizer boxes are in decent shape, but do need about 10 minutes worth of work on them with a mig welder, and have the lids for 3 of the 4 boxes. Anyone got a clue on what they are worth ? Thanks for your help !

You generally can't give parts to those old planters away. I have 2 old planters that I could give away. Going to the scrap yard when season is over.

any of your planters have the double disk opener option on them? The ones that go with the runner. I'm trying to find some to put on my 290. I find it's easier to have one of these old planters setup for sweet corn than to change the setup on my 4 row when I want to out some sweet corn on a field edge.

Are you saying that you have a couple of either 290 or 490 planters to get rid of? If so where are you located?

290 fertilizer buckets in good shape are worth about $100 each here in New Jersey. There are always people looking for them, lots of those 290s are used for sweet corn. Seed cans seem to last forever, but the lids get lost, so if you have them, advertize them, somebody out there is missing one. Markers also seem to be an "in demand" item for the 290, so if you happen to find a set, they too can be sold.
