Looking for a 96 inch snowblower. Local dealer handles Allied so I was wondering if anybody has any experience with them. I will be using it on a 90 pto horsepower tractor so I think I should be okay there. Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks for the input. The tractor I was going to use only has 2 reverse gears so I may go with a 60 inch blower on a 30 hp tractor I have as it has 8 reverse gears.

I have a 7' on a 85 hp tractor, & it can be a load, have to clutch a lot in deep snow. I have 4 reveres. If you have a slow reverse, it'll work out.

I have had a 6' unit for a few years that I use on a 45 HP Ford 3000 in the Lake Superior snow belt of northern Wisconsin. The unit is well built and has worked well with no problems. With live pto i usually take half a cut after the first pass and am able to keep moving. In really deep stuff I have raised the blower to leave snow on the ground but able to keep the tractor moving.

Allied should be a good unit.

I assume you are refering to a 3-point mount that you back up into the snow?

Most tractors have a reverse gear that is much faster than the lowest forward gear, and when you are backing into a deep drift where you must make a full cut, it's tough!

If you are in a heavy snow area, that 8' unit will pull the guts out of a 90 HP tractor at typical reverse gear speeds. Obviously, slipping the clutch is not a good idea, and there is no other way to go slow enough.

I have used one on an IH hydro, which worked really well since you could go as slow as needed.

Good luck!
