While I'm sure this is an elementary question, and not greatly important, I had to ask out of curiosity. What is a middle buster for? I guess I should say what is the proper use for it? Of course I'd like to hear other things it's good for too. Advantages of it, etc? I'm want to get some implements for my "new" tractor, and just curious what job certian ones are do.

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,
I would like to have a middle buster to rip up some bermuda grass. The 2 bottom plow has a tough time with bermuda grass patches in my garden. But if you want to have some fun get a turning plow. Everyone gets a kick out of using a turning plow for the first time.

As RayP said, it's good for lots of things. I use mine for planting our garden, which is narrow but very long. I disk the whole garden first, and then lay out rows for plants with the middlebuster. I think it is the best tool around for planting potatoes as it leaves a nice trench with soft soil on either side that is easy to push back into the trench. I also use it for my tomatoes (about 75-100 plants each year) and peppers...really makes planting time go faster.

I have used it for planting seedling trees, too.

Middle buster is a multiple use tool. It makes a groove in the soil when you pull it. It does this by pushing the soil both sides of the shank. Uses? anything you want to cut a groove thru! Planting trees, cutting drains, digging potatoes, hilling crops by going between rows, cutting furrows to bury wires, water lines, etc. Not a must have, but a handy tool to have.
