I was just reading a little about these. These seem like a great little round baler.
What do you guys think of them also how much does a new one cost?

A NEW Vermeer 5400 Rebel sells for $11,500 here at CCM.Includes hay-saver wheels, bale counter, electric double twine tie, constant velocity PTO with clutch, hydraulic tension & serviced with twine and ready to go to the field. We just received some loads from the factory and put them in the dry. Sold one today

Just curious about one thing on these, I was told pto had to be turn off on every bale ejection, is this true? Seems like a lot of wear and tear on pto clutch to me.

No it is not essential to turn off your PTO to dump a bale with the Rebel balers. Some people do turn off the baler by habit or because they want to position a bale in the center of a hill and gently deposit where it might not roll through a fence or hit an object. As you know the Vermeer bales are round and will roll.

This is the best baler on the market. Strong words, perhaps, but I truely believe that it is. We just got one, in early August. I have baled everything in sight with it. You will hear "qualified" comments, like "It's a good "small" baler", or "It's a good low-horsepower baler". While these are accurate, it doesn't begin to describe the qualities of the Rebel 5400. Vermeer balers require less horsepower that the competition's balers. They bale a tight, well formed bale. (That is proven by the fact that a4'X5' bale from a 5400 is heavier than the same size bale from any other brand) They hold up well, and have great re-sale value.(But why sell anything that works so well?) Add that to the fact that they sell for less than Deere, or New Holland, and it becomes a NO-BRAINER. I have heard several Vermeer dealers mention the fact that the Rebel series is the leading selling line of balers, in the U.S. Experience is in-valuable. Vermeer started the round baler trend. (Excluding the old A-C Roto-balers) They have been building the best balers every since. You won't go wrong with one.

great low hp baler. Will put up a good bale about 1,000lbs. They sell for about 12,000. Vermeer just increased there prices for the year. However if you look around you might find one left over from last year at last years price. We have had a lot of sucess with them.
