I baled up a wagon load of hay this week, It was a little wet, I placed in the barn on edge(not stacked) and salted it down. how many days should it take to tell if this hay will dry and not mold? Thanks

How wet are we talking, and how much temp rise have you had?

Keep a close eye on the temp of the hay. If I am not mistaken, the temp should not get over 150, which is about the temp to cause spontanious combustion. And you can start getting loss from quality when temps get to about 110. Like the others said, when you can stick your hand in the bale and the grass is cool to the touch it will be OK to move.

Most hay testers have temperature sensors wait until temperature is stable and droping

the hay will "go through a sweat" once it is cool when you run your hand in a bale it should be ok to store.

Kinda depends on just how wet it is, but if you got it baled and it hasn't broke the strings on the bales yet I would say a week or two max, just to be sure you aren't going to start a fire anywhere. I would say it's going to mold somewhat anyway, but I believe my cows will eat a little mold and they think it tastes better than a snowdrift!
