Hello,
If you had your choice what round baler would you buy? I am talking new or almost new and will be doing around 1,000 acres of alfalfa. I really need a nice solid bale for hauling and stacking. Resale value is a plus too. Thanks for any opinions, I haven't used these enough to know what is out there.

Chris

I own a Hesston 5540 4x6 and have had it since new, its been very good. But after the first of the year I'll buy a new Vermeer 604 I have done made my mind up, after looking at them. Hey! there is no such thing as comparison to any other baler. Go look! then you will see what I am talking about. Enough said...

In our area you can't beat a 466-467 JD baler. Heavy built, easy operation. Most dealers won't even look at a Vermeer, cheap and hard to find parts for.

Jusr sold # 85 New Vermeer baler this year. We have $200,000 of baler parts in stock. Why so many parts? We have sold Over 4,000 Vermeer balers and we keep them running. Our Vermeer balers would run past the Green Toy your's so fast, but you Deere guys like to eat the dust behind a Vermeer.

it does not matter which color you run...if the person between the seat and steering wheel does not know what they are doing then any bale can be misshaped and loose.....have nice day may god bless

Don't know where you live, but Vermeer balers are without a doubt, the best balers on the market. That is coming from someone that bleeds green. Parts are just as easy to get for the Vermeer, as anything I've ever seen. I just bought a new one. (Actually, my wife bought it for me-Birthday present) We used one that belonged to a nieghbor, in trade for some combining. I wouldn't trade mine for ANYTHING. It's one of the best built pieces of equipment I own. It's a Rebel 5400, the best selling NEW round baler in the U.S.

I on't get into color wars much, but my very old Vermeer is way ahead of anything else it's age, works well. Parts are easy to get, dealer is 40 miles away. They are well made, perhaps inexpensive, but not cheap. ;)

Chris, In this area of Kansas there are only 3 round baler brands that are used by the big operators. Vermeer and John Deere run in the top slot with New Holland running close behind. All 3 brands make a good solid bale that doesn't "sag" with time.

purchased a new heston 956 round baler in july it has all the bells a whisles you could dream of except for net wrap. this is the fourth heston baler i've owned . started with a 5585,then a 560. and traded a 565a in they all have been good balers, but each much better than the one before. the new baler builds a 5'8" bale that ave 1700 lbs. the real plus is the wide pickup and heaver teeth.

I highly recomend that you go with a Vermeer. Mine has been 100% trouble free. Wouldn't even consider buying any other kind if I ever buy another round baler. I'm not saying other brands aren't good, because I have not run them. I'm just so satisfied with my Vermeer.

Chris,
YEP you can take a Vermeer baler buy it for $1000's less than the other major colors, It takes hay a gear to 2 gears faster, make's a heavier tighter bale, all with less PTO HP needed and you can run it 10 years and get 60-70% back in trade in value.

Every Vermeer baler has done this. Purchase any new Vermeer baler run it 10 years and given you keep the baler in the dry and take good care of it the resale value 60-70% of the original purchase price.

You might want to head to a real ag web site, like>Link

My neighbors really like the new Case machines, but wow no where near 100 acres.... I like my old Vermeer, but not even close to what you are working with! :)

For transport, big square bales work out better, if that is an option for you? Really packs the hay, & fits on a semi better.
