Over the years, the local John Deere dealer has seen enough of my dumb idea's. I'm going to leave him out of the loop, on this one. I have a JD 750 no-till drill, 15'. It works fine, and will handle just about whatever I throw at it. Here's my question. I remember seeing a 10' version of the same drill. Does anyone know about them? What does one wiegh. How big of a tractor would it take to pull one? I have several fields, that are "in town" and very limited access. I would like to have one of the 10' drills to do these fields. Could I pull one with a 60 hp tractor? The ground is as flat as a pool table, and VERY productive. They are about 35 miles from home, and the smaller size would help out with moving back and forth. I use a 4 row corn planter, and have an old JD4400 combine, that stays at this location. I would like to have a smaller drill to use there also. I don't have to use the smaller tractor, but would like to, as it is easier to haul. I have a 130 hp tractor, if all else fails. Also, does anyone know about how much one of these 10' drills would sell for, in decent shape. A friend has told me where I might find one. Before I drive 200 miles to look at it, I would like to know a bit more about them.

There are a few 10' 750 drills around here. 60HP will probably pull it on flat ground as long as the tractor is ballasted. A nice 750 10' will bring $10000 in eastern PA or western NJ. I don't know what one weighs. I don't think I'd try to pull one with full boxes in road gear with that 60HP tractor and then have to stop fast.
