IH plow identification

For the guys that helped me in a previous thread and anyone else who wants to help, here is a picture of the plow I have. I was using it on saturday, and it needs adjustment for me to make it sing.

Can anyone identify the model of it so I can aquire an operators manual? I pull a rope to lift and lower it, if that helps. The casts all have IH on it so we at least got the make.

I have a nice shiny canadian loonie for the first person how volunteers to fax me the critical pages of a manual to operate a plow like this so I can start enjoying this beauty.

I've just checked back to this discussion. Wow, you guys sure know your plows! I'm going to do a search here to see what else I can find out about them. Maybe I'll drag mine out this Fall and give it a go again. Thanks.

When you get that set up and running right, you will be in possesion of one of the finest plows ever made. Get a new set of points and the manual and have fun.

Stu: It is an IH Little Genius No.8, 67,000 of them were built from 1928 to 1960. After 1942 the name Little Genius was dropped and plow was just called the No. 8 tractor plow.

I don't have a manual but can tell you where there is one. Jim Cox of Innerkip, Ontario has one.

I don't know the model # but it looks like a dead ringer to the four bottom I've got. The M-H I have had the name painted (Stenciled) on the cross beam (I don't know what it's called) that runs across the plow beams above the mouldboards. It's faded to the point it can't be read. Maybe this is the case with your IH? The rope you pull operates the power lift. Hydraulics weren't that common when these were made, probably in the '40's or '50's. My IH has been converted to hydraulic. Whoever did it was a pretty crude welder but it worked. I haven't used it for many years. A kind neighbor with a JD 5 bottom lends me his when I take a notion to plow. I'll check back for further posts. Good luck with your search.
