I just acquired a very nice barge wagon with hoist that I would like to use at an antique show this weekend. This is probably a stupid question, but since it has only one hose, do you have to plug into one outlet to raise then put in other to lower? Or does it raise and lower by just simply pushing the lever the oposite direction.

What you have is a single acting hyd cylinder on your barge box.

Often you can just raise it up, & when you hold the tractor lever in the 'lower' postion gravity will slowly pull the box back down (If it's cold out, _real_ slowly....). Some tractors very much prefer that you set up their contol valves the right way. Consult your operators manual or visit your dealer & find out what makes your tractor the happiest. There can be a set valve to turn the tractor into 'single-acting' and it won't have to work so hard pushing oil past the relief valve.

Push the lever in the other direction; without weight in the bed, it will be slow coming down.
