Got the baler working and made 5 bales when the hay pickup quit rotating. There seems to be a clutch behind the knotter that is not engaging. Is this an easy or hard problem to repair? I could use some information about this problem before I tear into it. Apreciate any help. THANKS

My NH 271 did the same thing. It was years worth of old hay twine had wrapped around the pickup reel. Had to take off the pickup sheilds and cut it out. Also the pick up clutch is a friction plate type. It should have several bolt/springs on one side. If the clutch slips, tighten these evenly until there is no more slippage. DO NOT lubricate.

i'm guessing that there are overrunning clutch pins that got rusty and stuck, take apart drive clutch and pull them, and lube them. or maybe a chain is broken.

Thanks for the advice. I took the sheetmetal off and took a look. It may a combination of tightnig and cleaning those 2 pins. I thank you for the help and the quick responce.
