farmall circular saw?

for my farmall super C theres a enourmous circular saw, probably 24" inches wide at least it runs from a belt which conncts to a wheel on the pto drive in the back the wheel comes off if it mattrs anyone know anything about them

What I forgot to mention was that most everybdy my age knew somone who got cut up by a buzz saw. People used to drink booze during proibition to keep warm during winter. They had a respect for the saws, but somtimes being half lit, they made a mistake, and that was that. Ive sed mine, a wedding present from my grandad to my dad for 28 yrs with my grandads CC Case and a 30ft belt. Im now on my second belt, I use them to start my bailer engine, and thats hard on them. When I had my family home, I would station my 9 yr old boy inside the woodshed, which the blade just stuck in, the sa being right upagainst it. He would take the cut piece of wood and give it a throw. I always watched him for a mistep. My wife and daughter would bring up the limbs, I would put the one end on the table. they would hold the other end straight so the limb laid fully on the table. They moved forward when I pushed. They never made a move that I didnt make. They neer pushed the limb forward till I had the table back. We made a good team and got alot of wood cut, but, if you drink, sell it to somone who dosent and lve a good life with alla your body parts

and 24in is enormious> My Buzz saw has a blade around 32in and ive seem them 54in on sawmills

Many call 'em buzz saws but i prefer cordwood saw. I use mine regularly. Far better and faster than a chain saw for stock up to about 6 or 8 inches in diameter. Anything larger is too much of an effort to hoist onto the table. Plus that's about the limit of most saws capacity in a single pass. Having to roll to make more than one cut serves to defeat the purpose and eliminates the advantage over the chain saw.

I grew up using such a saw, taking away (now that's some terminology not in common use today) from Dad when I was about ten. That was fifty years ago :o).

My buzz saws are 28" and 30". Mine are not mounted on the tractor, but instead are out away from the tractor, which I feel is better with my belts which come off the front of my tractors, since it keeps the radiator farther away from the saw throwing sawdust and trying to plug things up. We've cut between 50 and 100 cords per year for the last ten years. I sure do prefer it to chainsaws. Any wood over about 18" diameter gets to be a real chore to cut, it needs to be turned too many times. In theory, I think it would do about 2' diameter.

They were called buzz saws when I was growing up have worked around several of them growing up in the fifties and sixties. It requires two or more to operatate and has a great potential for disaster. They would buzz right through a six or eight inch pole. I have heard tales but have never seen any one hurt with one of them but believe me the danger is there.

My Dad, had one mounted on the rear of IHC SC. Spent many cold days in Nov. either dragging poles to the saw or throwing away from the saw. I think it is still hidden away in the back of my brother's machine shed. Brings back good memories before we were dependent on furnace oil or gas.
We used it to cut up wood that was cut in poles 8 to 10 ft long up to about 6 inch diameter. This wood was used for the cook stove in the kitchen.
For the furnace we used larger logs that were cut up with chain saw and then split with an axe until the wood splitter appeared in the mid 60s.
