Would anyone know the make and model of the best square and round baler of all time? It would be interesting to know some numbers that were sold as well.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

In our neck of the woods (N.E.) I would say it went in this order: JD,NH,IH,MF,Ford,Case,Oliver,
AC.

More NH 68-273's in my neck of the Minnesota prairie. :) I'm not sure what the overall best seller would be. Some version of NH, vs JD 14 or 24, vs the IHC 40s series (outside chance) would be my guess.

I would say the IH46 baler was made in large numbers.

WHere I grew up in central MN (Todd county) in the 70's to mid 80's the 14T and 24T John Deeres along with the 68,69 and 273 New Hollands were the most prevelant. In fact, it wasn't uncommon to see an all Farmall/IH farm using a 14T Deere.

Our Allis 303 (square) baler was one of the only 2 Allises I ever saw in the area. I knew of one guy with a 532 Ford, and saw a couple 46 IH's.

Now most small dairy ops have quit or gone to beef cattle and have switched to round bales.

I can't even FIND a pic of a 303 Allis on the net.

I never knew Oliver or Massey made balers until I saw them on this board.

Eric

You forgot Case. Now there was someone thinking outside the box. The needles travelled horizontally, not vertically!
