MW Hay Tedder repair

I have a model 174 with 4 spools. The coupling for the outer two spools has a large pin through the shaft. This pin is referred to in the operators manual as a cemented pin. It "appeared" to have been held in place by a small lock screw which I have not been able to extract short of drilling it out. This makes me think "cemented" means some really strong bonding material was used when installed. Has anyone had a repair experience on this item.? I would appreciate your experiences.
